YOUNGMAY “Black Space” Ultra-Collagen Limited Edition Luxury Gift Box
Project Background
Develop an annual limited-edition flagship gift box for premium medical aesthetics brand YOUNGMAY, housing core products from its “Hydra-Glow” series (Hydra-Glow Device + 16 Essence Capsules + Oxygen Infusion Device). Objective: Establish a “collectible luxury item” perception within the home-use beauty device category while reinforcing the brand's professional image of “medical aesthetics for home use.”
Design Concept: A Skincare Sanctuary Within a Spacetime Rift
Centered on the “Black Space-Time” theme, the product unboxing experience is elevated into a high-end skincare ritual transcending dimensions. The overall design employs a double-opening sanctuary structure, creating dramatic tension as if “unlocking the gateway of time.”
Packaging Application Scenarios & Structural Innovation
【First Impression】
Outer Box Form: Utilizes deep matte black cardstock as the base, paired with a dark red gradient halo effect to simulate the profound depth of cosmic space. The front panel features a minimalist gold-foil embossed logo, exuding understated luxury.
【Unveiling Ceremony】
Double-door ceremonial opening: The symmetrical doors resemble lifting a mystical veil. Gold-foil lines outline ancient Greek column contours on both panels, symbolizing “technology as the modern temple.” Upon opening, the central floating display platform gently unfolds, creating a museum-grade “airborne exhibition” effect.
Magnetic damping system: Hidden magnetic closures ensure smooth, substantial door operation, with a subtle magnetic click upon closing enhancing the perception of quality.
【Functional Zones】
Central Floating Display Area (Visual Focal Point): The hydration meter is positioned at the box's center, elevated by an internal support structure to create a “floating” visual effect. Paired with a concealed LED light strip (optional), it delivers museum-grade illumination.
Symmetrical Dual Storage Compartments: The inner sides of the double doors feature a 16-slot matrix capsule array. Each capsule is individually mounted, protecting the glass ampoules while creating an array aesthetic. Transparent acrylic covers provide dust protection without obstructing visibility.
Bottom Pull-Out System: A drawer-style storage compartment beneath houses the oxygenation device and accessories, enabling a functional layering of “display above, storage below” to maintain visual purity in the primary viewing area.
【Materials & Craftsmanship】
Outer Shell: Specialty paper laminated with matte film + spot UV coating for a delicate, skin-like texture
Inner Lining: Black flocked fabric / high-density EVA foam, precision die-cut for secure product positioning
Metal Components: Logo plate crafted from zinc alloy with gunmetal black electroplating, echoing the brand's technological aesthetic
Application Value
1. Retail Display
The double-door configuration functions as a standalone display prop, creating an independent “brand island” without additional fixtures. It commands strong visual attention in mall atriums or boutique windows.
2. Private Unboxing Experience
For YOUNGMAY's high-value private domain users (approx. ¥5,000 price segment), the packaging itself becomes “social currency.” When users share unboxing photos on social platforms, the double-door structure naturally creates the optimal 45-degree shooting angle, inherently boosting shareability.
3. Enhanced Gift Attributes
The box's dimensions and substantial weight convey “substantiality,” making it ideal for annual membership gifts, VIP birthday presents, or holiday limited editions. The drawer's accessory storage design ensures recipients can repurpose the packaging as a desktop organizer during long-term use, extending brand exposure.
4. Brand Asset Accumulation
The packaging adopts a modular design philosophy. The inner liner can be quickly swapped for different seasonal product combinations (e.g., replacing with sets of serums numbered 0-5), while the outer box mold offers high reusability, reducing long-term packaging costs for the brand.
Design Highlights Summary
This packaging successfully translates the professionalism of medical-grade beauty devices into tangible aesthetic language. Its “temple-like opening” structure elevates the act of unboxing skincare products to a ritual akin to unwrapping luxury watches or perfumes. During YOUNGMAY's brief operational period, this gift set propelled the brand into the top ten of Tmall's beauty device category, establishing itself as a prime example of how packaging can build premium brand recognition for emerging domestic brands.
